It was aimed at \u00a0engaging females who took painting and drawing courses at the center by employing the skills they gained to enhance the aesthetic part of the center and at the same time set an example for other children participating in the day through games and other activities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The United Nations designates the 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of August of every year as the date of celebrating youth\u2019s participation in development where the theme for this year is \u201c<em>Youth Civic Engagement<\/em>\u201d. The emphasis of this year\u2019s theme is on the role played by the involvement and inclusion of young people in building social cohesion and collective well-being.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-110266 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/unhabitat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Palestinian-youth-encouraged-on-volunteerism-and-civic-engagement-300x225.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unhabitat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Palestinian-youth-encouraged-on-volunteerism-and-civic-engagement-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/unhabitat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Palestinian-youth-encouraged-on-volunteerism-and-civic-engagement-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/unhabitat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Palestinian-youth-encouraged-on-volunteerism-and-civic-engagement-200x150.jpg 200w, https:\/\/unhabitat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Palestinian-youth-encouraged-on-volunteerism-and-civic-engagement-480x360.jpg 480w, https:\/\/unhabitat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Palestinian-youth-encouraged-on-volunteerism-and-civic-engagement-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/unhabitat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Palestinian-youth-encouraged-on-volunteerism-and-civic-engagement.jpg 664w\" alt=\"????????????????????????????????????\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Around 100 children participated in this event, along with 20 volunteers from Hebron Children Municipality, the UNV Programme in Palestine and the TVTC. The event started with volunteers drawing on the walls surrounding the amphitheater and planting the green space around it. The drawing theme was urbanism and nature where volunteers chose UN-Habitat\u2019s slogan \u201cFOR A BETTER URBAN FUTURE\u201d to be written on the wall and on the other side a portrait of a woman connected to buildings. The idea behind this portrait is to stress on the role young women in improving urban life and the whole society.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Parallel to that, volunteers started the games in a form of competition between two teams where children from different neighborhoods learned to support each other for one joint purpose.
