Facilitated by Joyati Das, Expert on Children and Youth, session encouraged conversations and discussions on urban sustainabilty with young people attending the World Urban Forum. Featuring the members of UN-Habitat\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhabitatyouth.org\/en\/meet-the-un-habitat-youth-advisory-board-2023-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Youth Advisory Board<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400;\">, the session created a space for the participants to consider and\u00a0 review the Global DeclarACTION adopted at WUF-11 during previous phase of\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhabitatyouth.org\/en\/youth-2030-cities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Youth 2030 Cities<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400;\">, and share recommendations to strengthen it, based on their own lived experiences and insights. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Youth leaders participated in the discussion and based on their experience in their respective cities and countries, as well as their priorities for global action, and identified themes that needed to be added to or strengthened in the Global DeclarACTION. These themes reflected the young people\u2019s current perception of their cities, as well as local, national and international priorities, thus bringing a local to global to local perspective.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The participants identified ways in which various stakeholders at different levels should be involved in acting on the Global DeclarACTION. The young people also recommended avenues to strengthen their own participation in implementing the DeclarACTION. They emphasized the need for multilevel collaboration in achieving the SDGs through the DeclarACTION.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The key emerging themes from the discussion with young people\u00a0 are:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Education and skill building<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Health nutrition and well being (transport, water management, waste management, air pollution)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Housing and safe environment<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Employment, entrepreneurship and professional development<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Environment and climate action<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gender and inclusion (indigenous laws disability<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peace and security<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Equitable access to innovation and technology<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collaborative governance for sustainable urbanisation &#8211; Voice, participation and contributions of young people in\u00a0 shaping city systems and informing urban planning<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These emerging themes will form the revision of the current<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhabitatyouth.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/DeclarActions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Global DeclarACTION<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, along with other activities that have sought youth input for this iteration. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Youth 2030 Cities initiative is supported by Fondation Botnar, UN-Habitat, youth and youth-led organizations and cities globally.
