January 29, Nairobi, Kenya. – Today, in the lead-up to the 11th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF11), which is to be held in the Polish City of Katovice between 26-30 of July, 2022, the global consultations on the participation of youth in this event will take place. The further consultative sessions are scheduled for March and May of this year.
Every two years the world comes together to reflect on the issues related to urbanisation. Starting from 2018, after the high-level conference Habitat III convened in 2016 to adopt the New Urban Agenda, these discussions have included the achievements and challenges in its implementation. Young people are actively informing the outcomes by producing joint statements and declarations of urban youth through projects such as Youth 2030 at WUF through the World Urban Forum’ Youth Assembly and the Children and Youth Roundtable.
The World Urban Forum is the most important global event on urban policy and sustainable urbanization. Its 11th session (WUF11) will be held in Katowice, Poland between 26 and 30 June 2022. The theme of WUF11 is Transforming Our Cities for a Better Urban Future. During the event, its participants will discuss the future of cities based on current knowledge of trends, challenges and opportunities.
