18 November 2024, Cairo. – The Future Generations Zone at the Urban Expo of the World Urban Forum emerged as a vibrant hub of learning, discussion, and collaboration. Drawing over 300 diverse visitors daily, this dynamic space, managed by young people, hosted interactive workshops and peer-led sessions that redefined traditional knowledge-sharing. With the support of dedicated partners, an enriching learning program was curated to make sustainable urbanization concepts accessible and engaging for children and youth.
Run by the UN-Habitat Youth Programme and its partners, the Future Generations Zone offered an extensive lineup of workshops and presentations tailored for younger audiences. The unique atmosphere mirrored the open, oral teaching traditions of Ancient Greece, fostering natural knowledge acquisition in an interactive and inclusive environment. This approach empowered young participants to engage actively, exchange ideas, and collaborate with instructors and peers.
A team of passionate volunteers played a crucial role in the zone’s success, offering their support during workshops and facilitating two key initiatives: the 5×5 Youth Challenge and the #WUFYouth Challenge. Their dedication ensured that the Future Generations Zone was not just an exhibition booth but a thriving space for inspiration and innovation.
